Plan Outline

The specialisation in Biomedical Engineering is designed to introduce engineers from various disciplines to biomedical engineering, the application of engineering techniques and analyses to problem solving in medicine and the biomedical sciences. The growing complexity of medical technology has increased the demand for appropriately trained professionals to bridge the gap between clinical medicine and applied medical technology.

Plan Structure

Students undertake courses in Biomedical Engineering and the Faculty of Engineering. The Biomedical Engineering specialisation is not available as a Master of Engineering Science Extension.

Professional Development Courses:

In addition to the courses listed, students may choose courses from the list of specialisation courses for Biomedical Engineering upon approval of the Postgraduate coordinator, based on individual background, skills and knowledge they need to acquire.
