Plan Outline

Staff responsible for infection control are required to have an understanding of statistics, epidemiology and research methods to assist them in their efforts to survey, prevent and contain the transmission of hospital-acquired infections. This Graduate Certificate will introduce students to those statistical and epidemiological skills required to interpret or perfrom surveillance and outbreak investigation. Students will understand how to evaluate prevention strategies and to critically appraise medical and nursing literature.

Plan Structure

Students are required to complete a total of 24 units of credit comprising the following 4 courses:

PHCM9011 Statistics and Epidemiology (6 uoc)
PHCM9411 Hospital Epidemiology (6 uoc)
PHCM9731 SARS & Crisis Management (6 uoc)
PHCM9732 Infection Control (6 uoc)
