Plan Outline

Master of Commerce (MCom) students must complete:
• 4 core courses
• 6 specialisation courses (made up of 2 specialist core courses and 4 specialisation elective courses)
• 2 elective courses - students can choose electives to deepen their specialisations or can choose any other Master of Commerce course where prerequisites are met.

Master of Commerce (Extension) (MCom(Ext)) students with only one specialisation must complete:
• 4 core courses
• 6 specialisation courses (made up of 2 specialist core courses and 4 specialisation elective courses)
• 6 elective courses - students can choose electives to deepen their specialisations or can choose any other Master of Commerce course where prerequisites are met.

Master of Commerce (Extension) (MCom(Ext)) students with two specialisations must complete:
• 4 core courses
• 6 specialisation courses from the first specialisation
• 6 specialisation courses from the second specialisation
• No electives

Plan Structure

In order to qualify for the Business Law specialisation, students must complete the following:

4 core courses:
2 core disciplinary courses consisting of:
and one of
4 disciplinary courses selected from the following list:
and 2 elective courses selected from MCom offerings.

Note:
  • LEGT5541 and LEGT5551 - One of these must be taken within the disciplinary core requirement. The remaining course may be taken within the four other disciplinary courses to complete the specialisation.
  • COMM5001, COMM5002 and COMM5003 must be taken at the beginning of studies, and COMM5004 must be taken at the end of the program.

Professional Accreditation

The Chartered Secretaries Australia Ltd (CSA) is the professional association for 10,000 company secretaries and corporate managers in Australia. It also operates as the Australian Division of the International, 70,000 member strong, Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators to which most CSA members also belong. CSA also sets the standards for entry into the profession through the Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance.
