Plan Structure

In the Graduate Diploma in Creative Writing (program 5225, plan code ENGLCS5225) students take the four core courses from those offered in the MA in Creative Writing program. Students who have successfully completed the requirements for the Graduate Diploma in Creative Writing may apply to upgrade to the Master of Arts program in Creative Writing. They will then be required to complete a further 2 courses. The Graduate Diploma also provides a possible exit point for students who find they are unable to complete the MA (Pass) program due to changing commitments at work or at home. The program of study will normally be completed over two sessions or four sessions by part-time students.

The 32 units of credit are made up of 4 core courses:

Session 1

Session 2

Qualifications for Entry

The normal requirement for entry is a BA with a major in English, Education or a related discipline, preferably at credit level or better. We consider applications from other appropriately qualified people on an individual basis. Entry to individual courses may be permitted at the discretion of the Coordinator and the recommendation of the course/plan convenor. Applicants for the Creative Writing programs whose undergraduate degree is not in English may be requested to provide samples of their creative writing. Australian government visa requirements mean that international students cannot enrol in this program.
