Description

The basic supply chain management and logistical concepts will be studied within the context of the humanitarian and disaster relief environment. Various civilian and military applications are considered in a global context. All phases of the Disaster Management Cycle (DMC) will be covered. Different logistical strategies needs and techniques are required for each phase.

The aim of the course is to provide a solid theoretical base for logisticians working within the humanitarian environment. At the end of this course students will understand the different phases of the DMC and will be aware of the different logistical needs, flows and performance indicators associated with each phase. As this is a relatively new course emphasis is given to future avenues opening in humanitarian logistics such as professional collaborations, civil-military co-ordination and challenges.
