Description

This course examines the influence of urban ecology on the practice of landscape architecture over the last 50 years. The course explores both the theoretical and practical applications of urban ecology principles and concepts as applied to established, regenerated and new urban landscapes.

The course draws on both international and local case studies to map the trajectory key ideas, projects and designers which influenced changes in the role of ecology in relation to landscape design. Topics include: succession, climax systems; landscape ecology, ecological urbanism, and landscape urbanism.
