This is the first design studio in Stream A of the MLArch. It develops design thinking and skills by requiring students to integrate programmatic requirements into the design process. Design projects focus on landscape systems to address the spectrum of contemporary site planning concerns: access, circulation, water quality and drainage, social equity, biodiversity and resilience. Students develop skills in analytical and conceptual thinking by working on medium scale sites, and the ability to test and integrate ecological, social, aesthetic and temporal aspects of landscape performance into the design process.
