Social and Environmental Sustainability - COMM5202
Description
Social and environmental sustainability is increasingly viewed by businesses as a key to increased productivity, growth trajectory, and long term value creation. This is a result of both internal and external factors, including the drive for resource efficiency in a world of decreasing natural resources, the need to attract and retain staff, many of whom require their employer to act in a socially and environmental responsible manner, building a loyal customer base locally and abroad, and the responsibility to account for social and environmental impacts through voluntary and involuntary performance reporting. This course will examine social and environmental sustainability from a foundation of stakeholder theory, systems thinking, and case study method with the aim of equipping students with the knowledge and skills to create long-term economic value while building healthy ecosystems and strong communities.
