Description
This course begins in the areas of genetics and molecular biology, then explores the reproductive, and other related hormonal systems, and their effect on reproduction. The male reproductive function and spermatogenesis are also reviewed. The mechanism of sexual determination, differentiation and development towards reproductive competence are examined.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course we expect that you will have:
• a basic knowledge of genetics and molecular biology;
• an advanced knowledge of the various reproductive hormones, their type, production, storage, transport and mechanism of action;
• a knowledge of the mechanism of sexual determination, differentiation and the developmental stages to achieve reproductive competence;
• a detailed understanding of related hormonal systems, including the endocrine pancreas, and their effect on reproduction;
• a sound understanding of spermatogenesis.
