Description
It covers a wide range of security issues and concepts from authentication and encryption through to network threats and password management. Students will examine computer security issues from the perspective of detecting threats and implementing secure computing environments and will develop an understanding of modern tools and techniques that can be deployed to secure a network.
Topics and Learning Outcomes
1. Understand how and why to secure both clean and corrupted systems, protecting personal data, securing simple computer networks, and safe Internet usage.
2. Understand key terms and concepts in cyber security y and cyber crimes, trademarks and domain theft.
3. Incorporate approaches to secure networks, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and intrusion prevention systems.
4. Understand principles of web security.
5. Incorporate approaches for incident analysis and response.
6. Incorporate approaches for risk management and best practices.
