Description

This course provides students with the business side of managing a single project. This unit is designed to help students acquire in-depth knowledge of the business aspects of project management including managing stakeholders, cost estimation, leadership and management skills. This unit also seeks to equip students with an understanding of how to apply knowledge in managing projects in different contexts. It provides the skills and knowledge for students to understand the human and business side of project management.

Learning Objectives

By the conclusion of this course you should be able to:

1 Understand project management as knowledge based and reflective practice;

2. Have knowledge of the core disciplines that underpinproject management;

3. Understand how the core disciplines inform the fundamental principles, concepts and standards that guide project management practices;

4. Be able to formulate the organising principles of the project management function;

5. Be able to specify the organisational capabilities to support project management; and

6. Have the skills to design and develop an appropriate management structure for the project management function.

You are expected to achieve these outcomes in accord withthe codes of ethics and behaviour endorsed by the UNSW.
