Description

The course is an introduction to economics with a special focus on the managerial applications. Topics covered may include the operation of markets generally in the Australian context, business decision making, the role of government in the economic environment, the determinates of system-wide levels of economic activity and the drivers of change in major economic aggregates.

Learning Outcomes

By the conclusion of this course you should be able to:
1. demonstrate knowledge of the function of individual markets, the function of Australian economy, and the key drivers of change in major economic aggregates.
2. apply fundamental economic principles to various aspects of business decision making at enterprise or organisational level.
3. acquire and critically evaluate economic information from academic literature as well as through various media.
4. integrate concepts, theories, and principles from the course to demonstrate analytical skills in business management context.
5. demonstrate effective communication using economic terms.
