Description

This course will investigate the moral and philosophical contexts and ethics of practice, contract law, intellectual property protection and compliance in professional design activity. Students will explore opportunities for design, strategic planning and budgeting, production coordination and project management, preparation and presentation of reports and other written material. The broader contexts of general management, design management and the importance of a design culture within an organisation, company or institution will also be addressed along with the relationship between design management procedures and good design. An understanding of the processes of innovation, entrepreneurship and working in interdisciplinary teams is developed through case study, assessments and specialist guest lecture.
