Description

This course focuses on contemporary textiles for the body, challenging the nature of textiles, of what wearable textiles are, how they relate to the body, and how they are shaped, made and worn. With new technologies and the revitalisation of existing ways of creating, constructing and patterning, textiles today change how the human body is experienced.

The course encourages the investigation of relationships between concept, materiality and process in designing, and presents an opportunity for students to explore contemporary wearable textiles informed by digital and studio based processes. It develops skills and knowledge of various processes used in designing and fabricating contemporary textiles for the body.

To undertake this course students should have completed, or have one of the following:
48 UOC in Design related courses
SDES6760 Introduction to Contemporary Textiles
Knowledge and skills in textiles design and processes
Or equivalent
