Description

Contemporary furniture and lighting design can act as a signifier of the type of space we inhabit. It plays a role in not only defining but transforming space. It has the ability to narrate, provoke and define the social/cultural interactions in both public/private space. In this course students will identify a particular public/private space and respond to the needs and behaviours located within that space. Students will be engaged with contemporary design theories and ideas relative to the design of furniture and lighting scenarios. Students will explore the making of selected scenarios that depict the potentiality of use, and develop either a marquette or full scale prototype depending on the complexity of the design.
