Description

This elective is a study tour focusing on Suzhou. Three studies will be carried out in Suzhou: firstly a study of the principal gardens of Suzhou using photographic and collage techniques; secondly, a study of selected texts about gardens translated from classical Chinese into English; and thirdly, a study of how ideas from traditional gardens have been appropriated in contemporary Chinese architecture.
