Description This course examines the key concepts and issues in curriculum development for gifted students and where this meets with the global perspectives on curriculum differentiation. Current research on the appropriate curriculum design, teaching methodologies and resources for gifted and talented students is analysed, with a focus on the development of conceptual frameworks. A variety of research-based curricula process models will be investigated, including the work of Bloom’s, and Williams, as well as the combined content, process, product models of Kaplan and Maker. Assessment, both summative and formative will be examined as a guide to curriculum compacting, curriculum process and evaluation. The varying models of curriculum evaluation based on longitudinal research methodologies will also be a focus.
