Description

Reseach strongly indicates the importance of quality teachers in improving student outcomes. There is a recogntion that many models of performance management of staff are outdated and ineffective. In order to enhance the performance of teachers, leaders need to understand the importance of motivation, relationships and learning conversations.

The focus of this course is on the role that mentoring and coaching can play in the development of the leader and the teacher. Models and perspectives on coaching and mentoring will be developed as well as the development of listening and reflection skills. Action research by the students will provide feedback on the various models of mentoring and coaching.

This course consists of four modules which can be completed as an elective course in either the Graduate Certificate of Educational Leadership or the Master of Educational Leadeship.
