Description

This is a studio-based course and provides the student with an understanding of complex 3D Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) character creation through modelling, texturing and hierarchical control systems (rigging).

Projects undertaken in the session will explore holistic character design (aesthetic and mechanical) and provide students with the skills to design, create and control complex 3D CGI characters. This course compliments SOMA9202 Animation Workshop and is essential for any student aiming to complete a character-based animation for their major work in SOMA9500 Major Project.

The course is intensive and requires an understanding of both the 3D CGI software environment and working practices at least to the standard of an undergraduate degree or work experience equivalent.
