Description

This course explores advanced epidemiological techniques and will build upon and extend the epidemiological skills taught in the MPH core courses. The course achieves its aims through case studies in four areas in which epidemiology has made a substantial contribution to public health and clinical policy and practice. These are cancer, cardiovascular disease, hepatitis and screening for disease. The course reviews important epidemiological studies that have contributed to development of knowledge and in public health and clinical application in these areas. The emphasis of the course will be on the importance of epidemiological methods, and will give students a deeper understanding of study designs and biases in epidemiology.
