Description This intensive course seeks to analyse the interface of three important global topics: Health, Development and Human Rights. Included within this analysis will be the present status of international human rights and international humanitarian law as they apply to public health practice in relation to developing countries. The course seeks to engage students, scholars, human rights practitioners, health professionals, advocates, development professionals and members of civil society in a dialogue about the reciprocal interaction between health, human development and human rights, as well as present tools stakeholders can use to incorporate a health, development and human rights framework into their work.

Further Information This intensive workshop is scheduled for Summer 2009 (8-12 December 2008). The course is available as a full-fee paying professional development course, or as an elective to a number of programs within the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Law and Medicine.
Students wishing to take the course as an elective can apply to take the course for 6 uoc (PHCM9663) or for 8 uoc (PHCM9664) depending on the Faculty and program in which they are registered. There are limited places in this course. Interested students should complete an expression of interest form as soon as possible, and before August 2008, prior to enrolment being approved. Online enrolment is not available.
