Description Population health is primarily concerned with the health status of populations and communities as distinct from clinical health or medicine which is primarily concerned with the health of individuals and families. The objectives for this course include: an examination of the determinants and causes of disease and injury in populations and communities and the impact on health service provision; the collection and bio-statistical analysis of data to create information about disease and injury patterns in populations and communities (the epidemiological approach); and the use of information about disease and injury in populations and communities in order to manage, plan and provide hospitals, health services and prevention strategies.
