Description

The course presents theoretical foundations for statistical inference from a frequentist and Bayesian perspective. Topics include: Hierarchical and Bayesian models; general inference theory based on maximum likelihood and Bayesian theory; point estimation: finding and evaluating estimators;
hypothesis testing: finding and evaluating tests; interval estimation: constructing and evaluating intervals; introduction to decision theory.

Topics include decision theory; general theory of estimation and hypothesis testing; robustness of the statistical procedures; introduction to the bootstrap.
