Description Explores conversation and other forms of talk-in-interaction, with a focus on the structures and organisation of the discourse, and further, on how participants interactively construct meanings and activities through the talk. Special focus is on the ways speakers distribute their turns at talk, how turns are sequenced into series of actions, and ways of dealing with disagreement and with misunderstandings and breakdowns. Students are required to transcribe and analyse a short conversation, and analyse some conversational data.
