Description

Aims to teach two styles of translation, namely plan-based translation and product based translation in relation to English and Chinese. Students will review recent translation theories, complete a translation project or a number of translation assignments in selective areas. The weekly workshops will be used to discuss general professional issues and work in progress.

Assumed knowledge: Third-year level proficiency in Chinese.

On completion of the course, students should be able to gain:

  • Critical review - 30%
  • Progressive assessment (projects, assignments and participation) - 40%
  • Test (one way into 2nd language) - 30%
