Quality Assurance and Laboratory Practice - CHEM7111 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Description This course is an introduction to quality assurance in the analytical chemistry laboratory. It takes the principles of valid analytical chemistry (VAM) and describes the different approaches to ensuring quality of analytical measurement results. Quality control measures such as control charts, use of certified reference materials and interlaboratory trials are described. Also covered in detail are measurement uncertainty, method validation, metrological traceability, and accreditation to ISO 17025 and OECD Good Laboratory Practice.
Guest lectures are given by laboratory managers on how to run a commercial analytical laboratory. Groups of students research and give presentations on topics covered in the course, and spreadsheet exercises cover practical aspects of setting up a quality system. |
