Description Covers a review of the history of community development; the changing nature of community work; the concept of culture in relation to community work in developing societies; different ideological approaches to community work; an analysis of the outcomes that these approaches might have on communities and the alternative models of planning and service delivery which would evolve. Using case studies, strategies for effective community development will be identified and skills in consultation and partnership building developed. Students undertake an individual analysis of a local community development project.
