Description This course will explore the boundary between art and pornography and the social function of that boundary in western society. It will look at the ways in which bodies are eroticised and/or designated as pornographic or perverse. Concepts such as fetishization, voyeurism, sadism and masochism will be discussed in relation to art history and contemporary art practice. The politics of pornography will be debated in relation to such issues as gender/feminism, child sexuality, censorship and AIDS.
