Description This course provides students with an understanding of the role of epidemiology as the quantitative science underpinning much of public health and clinical practice. Students will learn the basic methods of epidemiology, such as the measurement of disease frequency, epidemiological study designs, and how they are applied in a variety of clinical and public health contexts. The course equips students with the skills to critically review the epidemiological literature and interpret epidemiological studies. Skills for measuring frequency of disease and testing for evidence of association between risk factors and disease in this course will build on statistics learnt in PHCM9503 Statistics for Public Health.
