Description This course is intended for students dealing with resource planning of lesser developed countries. A case study approach is used and reflects circumstances likely to be experienced in developing countries. In Hong Kong, the Hong Kong health system is examined. Topics cover the basic concepts in services planning including environmental scanning, applying emerging trends in health service delivery and addressing issues of resource allocation. Also included is the examination of ways to effectively engage communities in the development of their health services and the planning and procurement of health resources including facilities, workforce and service programs in the light of qualitative and quantitative analysis.
