Description The course includes the planning and conduct of clinical teaching programs, preparation of the learners including assessment of the learner's readiness, briefing before patient encounter, demonstration of skills, perceptual skills in data collection, debriefing and reflection on the clinical encounter, explication of the clinical experience, in terms of available theory. The candidate is challenged to translate professional knowledge into working knowledge, and forward planning of reading and further practice. The course also deals with the micro-skills of listening, questioning, probing and challenging, demonstrating, and involving the patient and other staff. The activities and assignments require the candidate to have access to clinical students in a teaching role for part of the coursework. Assignments include the study of the candidate s clinical teaching and the study and practice of clinical micro-skills.
