Description

Introduces students to recent approaches in the study of how audiences use and are affected by the genres of film and television they regularly experience. Discusses current television examples in terms of viewers' pleasure and their roles in constructing or confirming viewers' respective identities. Methods for studying audiences, qualitatively and quantitatively, are critically considered.
