Description

Running meetings and consultation processes is a role that lawyers are asked to participate in and often lead. In complex multi-party transactions the traditional role of chair is not effective enough. In areas such as Regulatory, Native Title and environment the ability to run meetings and change hats (be facilitator and adviser) is crucial. This course combines theory and practice to introduce legal advisers to these skills. A one day practicum is also available.

At the end of the workshop participants will:
- Understand the philosophy of facilitation
- Demonstrate an understanding of groups and how they work
- Plan a facilitation
- Scope a facilitation with the client
- Prepare and develop goals and specific outputs
- Have tools to intervene in a meeting
- Be aware of when they are changing from facilitator to process adviser and how to do that
- Assist a group in developing options
- Deal with difficult moments.
