Description The course covers the law on the use of force and law and practice relating to United Nations enforcement action and peace keeping operations. It examines the limitations, both pre- and post- UN Charter, on the unilateral use of force by States and the system for collective measures established by the Charter and regional organisations, including regional peace-keeping, with reference to both ad hoc improvisations by the UN in default of an established collective security system and recent developments towards a firmly established collective security system.
Prerequisite or corequisite: LAWS4080 Issues in International Law or equivalent. |
