Description

An overview of of the major health problems and their causes in developing countries, and the strategies and approaches used by health services and international assistance in addressing these problems.
The course emphasises understanding and interpretation of commonly used health data and indicators, and encourages students to share their experience and knowledge of health conditions and services in their home countries. Topics covered include: health and development, health status and health services, underlying issues; women's health; child health; communicable diseases; environmental health; non-communicable disease; health of at risk groups; and international development assistance.
