Description

Civil society, community and not-for-profit organisations are playing an increasingly important role in society, both nationally and internationally. Their public advocacy on behalf of their stakeholders needs to reflect this increasing importance by being of a high professional standard. The course addresses the interface between media, public relations, communications theory, legislation and litigation and is highly practical in nature, being taught by a practitioner with over 20 years experience at the forefront of community advocacy in Australia and the Asia Pacific. It combines the theory and principles of public advocacy with the practical skills required to develop programs at local, state, national and international levels, and has relevance for legal practitioners working on advocacy for community development, environment, human rights, etc. without being exclusive to those areas.
