Description

In the late 1990s very substantial amendments were made to the legislation which governs broadcasting in Australia, the Broadcasting Services Act 1992, to provide the structure for digital broadcasting and datacasting services. These amendments were highly controversial and further changes are expected. This subject will cover this highly topical area of law as well as other current regulatory issues associated with media ownership and content regulation. Topics include digital rights management, broadcast rights, classification and defamation. The course aims to provide students with a very practical, applied understanding of the laws in these key areas and the ways they might change in the future.
