Politics
Description
Politics is the study of the art of government and the distribution of power. Politics articulates the different ideas and values that allow us to justify and to criticize those who wield power over others; Politics examines the kinds of institutions and processes through which laws and policies are made and contested. At UNSW the study of Politics is undertaken at both the global and national level, offering historical, comparative and theoretical perspectives through which to understand and analyse what happens in the world.
What you will study
Following an initial overview of Australian Politics and Basic Political Concepts and Institutions, at an advanced level you will study human rights and global justice, democratic theory and practice, political parties and elections, multiculturalism, gender, social movements, liberalism and its critics.
