Program Description

Important notice:
  • This program is only available to students commencing from 2009 onwards.

  • Students who commenced their BA program before 2009 should refer to program 3400.

  • Students enrolled in all the combined degrees with Arts can only study courses offered by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

  • The Bachelor of Arts (UNSW BA) program is the most flexible of the degree programs offered by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The basic degree requirements are simple: a major and minor or double major selected from the list of the UNSW BA approved majors and minors and a minimum level of electives. You will have a great deal of freedom to 'focus' your degree, by choosing related courses to contribute to a particular specialisation, or to choose a wider range of courses that reflect diverse interests.

    Program Objectives and Learning Outcomes

An Arts degree is a pathway through a wealth of knowledge in the humanities and social sciences.

    Fees

For information regarding fees for UNSW programs, please refer to the following website:  https://my.unsw.edu.au/student/fees/FeesMainPage.html

    Choosing Electives

Elective courses are courses that do not contribute to a major or minor. They must be selected from courses in the area of study in the majors/minors list above.

    Honours

A fourth (Honours) year of study is an option for selected students. Those students who are considering an Honours program should consult the relevant school at the beginning of Level 2.

    Important Information

The Academic Rules for the UNSW BA and the online enrolment facility provide students with a wide range of course choices. The online enrolment facility checks that students meet the enrolment requirements for individual courses but not that a course complies with Program Rules. Students are responsible for ensuring they are enrolling in accordance with the Academic Rules outlined above. Students should not assume that because they have enrolled in a course online that the course is automatically credited to their degree program.
