Plan Outline

For a double major, 6 courses (36 UOC ) must be completed in addition to completion of the BEc program Compulsory Level 1 Core Courses.

Plan Structure

Students must have completed the Compulsory Level 1 Core Courses. In addition, students must complete the six (6) courses from the Required course list below. One of the Electives courses below can only be taken where one of the Required courses counts towards another Major or a Minor, subject to the requirement that students must complete three (3) Level 2 and three (3) Level 3 courses. All ECON courses are worth 6 UOC.

ECON2101 Microeconomics 2 (6 UOC)
ECON2102 Macroeconomics 2 (6 UOC)
ECON2206 Introductory Econometrics (6 UOC)
ECON3203 Econometric Theory (6 UOC)
ECON3208 Econometric Methods (6 UOC)
ECON3209 Statistics for Econometrics (6 UOC)

Elective courses

ECON2209 Business Forecasting (6 UOC)
ECON3206 Financial Econometrics (6 UOC)

Minor

For a Minor in Economics, students must complete the Level 1 core requirements for the BEc program. In addition, students must complete four (4) courses from the Required course list above. If one of the courses from the Required course list counts towards another Major or Minor, a course from the Elective course list can be taken. Regardless, students must complete one Level 3 course.

Honours

Honours level study is available for students completing the Econometrics major. The following courses, taken as electives additional to the Major, are recommended as a good preparation for Honours:

One of ECON3101 Markets and Public Choice; or ECON3121; or ECON3123
ECON 3104 International Macroeconomics
ECON 3202 Mathematical Economics

Students interested in studying at Honours level should refer to the relevant Honours plan record for entry requirement.
