The study of Political Economy introduces students to the competing approaches to understanding the operation of a modern market economy. Unlike traditional economics programs, which are mathematically orientated, Political Economy takes a historical perspective and focusses on the application of principles to the 'real' world. The study of Political Economy is primarily through the School of Social Sciences and International Studies and the School of Economics.

Plan Structure

For a major sequence in Political Economy students must complete a total of 48 units of credit made up of the three core PECO courses plus four elective courses (which must include at least one 3000 level course) from the list below. Electives may be taken at other institutions offering a Political Economy program with the permission of the Coordinator.
