Description

Objectives: A study of visual optical instruments and an understanding of the new developments in visual optics.

Brief curriculum: Working principles and optics of the direct and indirect opthalmoscopes, retinoscope, stereoscope, refraction systems, keratometer, slit lamp bio-microscope, radiuscope, pachometer, tonometer and goniometer. Lasers and their applications in visual optics: refractive surgery, scanning laser opthalmoscope, introduction to holography, diffractive optical elements, wavefront sensing and adaptive optics for the human eye, introduction to the use of software in lens design.
