Description

The World of Work is relevant to all students, and will cover many legal and practical aspects of employment relationships. It will draw on students’ own workplace experiences, using case law, hypotheticals, and media reports to ensure the content is relevant and engaging. Students will learn about the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees, and will be encouraged to raise topics of particular interest to them. The course may include topics such as: Can the boss tell you what to do outside work hours? Can you be sacked for swearing? Can an employer advertise for “buxom blonds only“? Can your pay be docked for careless behaviour? Can you refuse to work on a public holiday?
