Description

This course builds on the knowledge gained in Construction and Structures 1. It extends the study of architectural construction and structures through in-depth case studies; students also learn to apply relevant knowledge to design projects integrated with architectural design studios. The course introduces students to construction forms and structures of complex building types, as well as building codes and regulations and the role of the architect in relation to current industry practice. The integration of materials and structure into architectural decision-making is pursued as a facet of design through the detailed consideration of junctions, structure and building envelope.
