Description

This course introduces high-rise building functional requirements as well as technologies and processes used in high-rise building construction. Topics covered in this course include foundation systems; typical vertical and horizontal loads on high-rise buildings, structural systems including structural steel construction and reinforced concrete construction; enclosure systems; material handling and management including selection of cranes, hoists, and concrete pumps; high-rise building services; and interior fit-out of high rise buildings. Another topic focuses on sustainability features implemented in modern high-rise buildings and the contributions of high-rise buildings in promoting sustainable construction.
