Description

This course enables students to gain proficiency in reviewing, synthesizing, and critically analysing research literature within a topic concerning architecture in a broad sense, including architectural design, architectural history and theory, architectural science, architectural construction and structures, and architectural computation. Students learn how to identify, synthesize, and analyse research and scholarly literature on a chosen topic, and learn how to write a review of the literature they have covered. Students also develop an annotated bibliography of scholarly sources that will inform their future honours thesis questions and approach, plan for thematic development of the literature review, and synthesise these findings into a thesis argument. Emphasis is placed on critical analysis rather than a summary of literature, drawing out its content as well as research methods.
