Description

Media Art in the 21st Century is an introductory level 2 contextual studies course that traces practices, themes and approaches to contemporary media art. In the beginning of the course you will be encouraged to ask questions about 'what media art is?' and begin to think about why media artists produced works through media. Fundamental to answering these questions is the development of a strong understanding of the recent history of media art and various strands of practices, methods and tools that have been engaged by artists in the field. The course will look at Australian media art practices in an international context focusing upon the current state of debate and practice within the area. Due to the contemporary nature of the work employed, these debates are open and developing and you will be able to investigate the area in an active and engaged manner.
