Description

This course addresses the broad application of simulation to training in the aviation industry in general, as well as providing an introduction to Air Traffic Management (ATM). While the emphasis will be on aircraft simulations, aspects of air traffic control simulation will also be included. Perspectives from both the trainer and trainees will be considered, and benefits to aviation safety identified. While pilots have to control a single aircraft, air traffic controllers deal with many. The ATM component of this course will identify the practical needs for air traffic management in terms of operational efficiency and safety. Topics will include administrative and operational structures, from the perspective of the air traffic manager. Future systems will also be discussed.
