Description

Subject Area: French Studies

In this course students reflect on their own past experiences accumulated through the coursework required for the major in French Studies. Students will demonstrate their skills and knowledge via oral presentations and written essays to be collected into a learning portfolio / ePortfolio that can serve as supplementary documentation for potential employers or further academic study. The course topics are drawn from those covered in language and contextual studies courses in the major. These topics include but are not limited to the following: media and popular culture, artists and artistic movements; cinema; specific literary pieces such as a poem, a short story, a novel, or a theater play; specific authors or creators; French language and linguistics; language and identity; social and regional variation; specific countries or regions of the French-speaking world; etc.
