Description

Objectives: Acquisition of the technical skills needed to refract and assess the ocular health of an uncomplicated normal patient; development of clinical synthesis and problem solving abilities. Brief Curriculum: Ocular health: history and symptoms, introduction to diagnostic drugs; Ametropia: measurement of visual acuity, aetiology and management of refractive error, objective and subjective refraction, retinoscopy, cycloplegic refraction, prescribing and dispensing prescription lenses, clinical aspects of lens design, special populations; Clinical skills: problem based consultations, interviewing skills, clinical decision making, case analysis.
